The Kenneth A. and Patricia A. Hall Charitable Foundation Shoreline Restoration & Boardwalk

The Kenneth A. and Patricia A. Hall Charitable Foundation Shoreline & Boardwalk:

The Kenneth A. and Patricia A. Hall Charitable Foundation Shoreline Restoration & Boardwalk will occupy the space of the current picnic pavilion and the adjacent areas along the water. Native plants will stabilize the eroding shoreline, while the new boardwalk will provide excellent views of the new gardens and the lake’s thriving wildlife. Given the close proximity to Lake Whitehurst, stormwater mitigation is a high priority. Prominently featured rain gardens will be highly effective in reducing runoff into Lake Whitehurst and the nearby canal system.

The new boat ramp, boardwalk and viewing platforms will not only provide easier access to the water and spectacular views of Lake Whitehurst, but will also help to restore and protect the shoreline.

The Garden will expand water education and activities by offering classes and kayak rentals.

Green Impact:

During the design phase of the Garden of Tomorrow, the environment has been first and foremost. Besides all of the surrounding eco-friendly plantings and gardens, as well as the conservation and restoration efforts at the shoreline. The NEW boardwalk decking will be made of eco-friendly recycled material provided by Trex. Visit the GREEN IMPACT section for all of the details.
